An extremely collectable copy of this rare and highly sought after 1966 English folk classic

Trevor Lucas hailed from Australia but made his name in the UK where he became a renowned and highly regarded folk singer/musician. His second wife was the legendary folk songstress Sandy Denny and together they went on to form Fotheringay, who themselves developed a cult following.  The wonderful "Overlander" was Lucas's only UK solo album and (inexplicably) sold in only small quantities, but what also makes "Overlander" so sought after is that it was released on the very short lived and revered "Reality" record label. 

It's hard to fault this package in any way. Both sides of the vinyl gleam with the original lacquered sheen. The vinyl is totally flat and appears to be in as good a condition as when it was originally purchased. Hold it up in a bright light, and at the correct angle, and it's just possible to detect a very few, small mild paper scuffs and wispy hairlines but these are negligible. EXCELLENT+

The labels are pristine. Not even the usual faint trace of spindle lines adjacent to the centre hole. NEAR MINT!

The gorgeous laminated (both sides) outer sleeve is superb. All of the edges and corners are perfectly defined, as is the spine, all of the colours have retained their rich vibrancy. No creases or laminate lifting either. On the reverse side there are two very small (not immediately noticeable) blemishes adjacent to the top edge (see photo), but again these do nothing to diminish the overall remarkable quality of this long lost folk classic. They may even be manufacturing faults. NEAR MINT!

The audio quality is yet again superb. Beautiful tone and clarity. I won't deny that there is the very occasional, and sporadic light click and hint of background crackle but when played a second time these minor glitches either didn't repeat themselves or occur elsewhere - a sure sign that these insignificant aberrations are caused by static...in fact, no different from when you play a newly purchased album for the very first time! A great, great listen.. This record has obviously been played only a few times. EXCELLENT+!

Comes complete with the original poly-lined inner sleeve which is in similarly great condition : no splits, tears or obvious creasing and still fully functional. brilliant!

I rarely use the words "Near Mint" and I hesitate even now but if this package (vinyl, labels, outer sleeve, audio quality) is not near mint then I'm not sure what is. Put it this way...I can't imagine that a another copy of this 50 year old long lost folk classic exists which is in better condition than this!

On the subject of postage, I take great care in the packaging of all items, using a proper vinyl cardboard mailer along with at least two cardboard stiffeners. I take great care in removing the record from the outer sleeve in order to prevent sleeve damage in transit. I do NOT profiteer from postage costs. I DO take great care in minimising all risk thereby ensuring, as far as possible, that your purchase reaches it's destination in exactly the same condition as when I post it. For items that sell for over £40 to non-UK bidders I insist upon Royal Mail 1st class, "tracked and signed for" so please wait for an invoice before paying. Good luck with your bidding. Richard

Descriptions of any records I sell comply with the Rare Record Price Guide grading guidelines :

Mint

Description: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent

Description: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packag­ing might have slight wear and/or creasing.

Very Good

Description: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable sur­face marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good

Description: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

Fair 

Description: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for prop­erly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

Poor

Description: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad

Description: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
