This auction is for a killer old Trial hoodie, size XL. The front has their collegiate-font logo with the words "Straight Edge Hardcore" beneath, while the back has the same logo above pictures of all the band members and the classic line "The days will turn to years as you wait for us to fall" from the song "Foundation." This hoodie dates back to the release of the 7"/CD of the same name on New Age Records in 1997.
Trial have been and always will be one of the most important hardcore bands ever, to me and thousands of others. Musically they were untouchable, combining the best elements of youth crew and heavier '90s styles without ever being cheesy or unoriginal. Lyrically they were (and still are) on an entirely different plane than virtually anyone else in hardcore. I still get goosebumps every single time I listen to Are These Our Lives? and it's next to impossible not to sing along to every single word.
I was fortunate enough to see all of Trial's US reunion shows over the last few years. These shows were absolutely some of the greatest experiences I have ever had in my life. If you weren't there, I can't even begin to describe the energy, the feeling and the sheer intensity of it all. Sadly, Trial bassist Brian Redman died last year in an accident, so those were the last shows Trial will play. Brian was a great guy and he will be missed. RIP.
I got this hoodie in a trade with a Seattle friend three years ago. I've found that I always go for the hoodies I got at the reunion shows, though, and never this one. It's really, really cool and has a great design, but the reunion hoodies just have so much nostalgia for me that I always wear them instead. It doesn't make any sense for me to let this hang in my closet untouched when I'm sure someone will be really stoked on it, so I'm selling it here to make money for my upcoming move. Bid now or cry later.
