Description

In this auction: 

 

·       “BEATLES FOR SALE” LP by The Beatles

·       This LP is Apple Records AP – 8442.

·       This is a Japanese Pressing.

·       I believe this LP was released between 1970 and October of 1973, because the labels have “MFD. BY TOSHIBA MUSICAL INDUSTRIES LTD. JAPAN” printed on them. On October 1, 1973 Toshiba Musical Industries Ltd. changed its name to Toshiba EMI Ltd, so we know that this LP was issued before October 1, 1973.

·       In trying to date this LP, I read on-line that the OBI Strip and printing on the labels is the key to determining the issue date.

·       The OBI Strip has “THE BEATLES FOREVER” printed at the bottom. “The Beatles Forever” series was issued from 1970 (or 1972 per 1 source) to 1976. 

·       From what I read on-line, this LP, Apple Records AP – 8442, with the “MFD. BY TOSHIBA MUSICAL INDUSTRIES LTD. JAPAN” labels and “THE BEATLES FOREVER” OBI Strip is the FIRST PRESSING of this BEATLES TITLE on the APPLE LABEL in JAPAN.   

·       The vinyl has matrix numbers YEX-142 on Side 1 and YEX-143 on Side 2.

·       This LP has a GATEFOLD COVER.

·       The COVER is in NEAR MINT (maybe NEAR MINT MINUS) CONDITION. There are just very tiny pushes on the 2 corners at the opening.

·       The 2-sided LYRICS SHEET (in English) is also included, and it is NEAR MINT.

·       The VINYL is NEAR MINT. The labels have a few very light “spindle trails” only visible at certain angles.

·       This LP has 14 tracks. Please refer to the images of the labels for the listing of tracks on this LP.

·       I’ve always heard that the Japanese Apple Toshiba Pressings are really such high quality pressings that they are close to the quality of an audiophile pressing, and I tend to agree!

 

It’s a VERY NICE EARLY JAPANESE APPLE PRESSING of this Beatles LP in GREAT CONDITION. You know how excellent the sound quality is from Japanese-pressed LPs. It’s a great addition to any vinyl collection!!

These are: Good+ (G+), Very Good Minus (VG-), Very Good (VG), Very Good+ (VG+), Near Mint Minus or Very Good++ (NM- or VG++), Near Mint (NM), Mint Minus (M-), and Mint (M or MT) to VISUALLY grade this LP, so please know the descriptions of these grades before bidding.
