Description
The Beatles Beatles For Sale LP Parlophone Green inner sleeve 1st Pressing? Export? Up for auction is a copy of Beatles For Sale on the Parlophone label. I am not certain which pressing this is since it has certain things that look as if it may be a first pressing and then it looks like it might be missing a few key elements, so I will list what I see and please do check the picures to determine for yourself. Perhaps this was an export copy? It does have THE PARLOPHONE CO. in the perimeter print so this may be an indication it was a first pressing from December,1964.
1).The label is black and the lettering appears to be cream, tan or yellow? in color.Numbered PCS 3062.I found the following quote from a website about Parlophone labels:"About three weeks after Please Please Me was released, Parlophone changed label styles. Characteristics are:
"THE PARLOPHONE CO. LTD." starts out the perimeter print. With the exception of very early copies of Please Please Me, "RECORDING FIRST PUBLISHED" is printed to the left of the spindle hole. The Parlophone logo ("£" in the circle) was originally printed in a cream or light tan color. In the summer of 1963 it was changed to yellow.
2). States: Recording First Published 1964.
3). Importantly the perimeter print starts with The PARLOPHONE CO. LTD. followed by All rights of the Manufacturer...This is an indication of the date since it was later changed to The Gramophone Co. in the perimeter print.
4). Does NOT state made in Great Britain and it does NOT state Sold In the U.K....Perhaps a first pressing for Export.
5). Side one is etched YEX-142-1 in the dead wax with the number 2 of 142 appearing to be scratched or corrected. Side 2 has the numbers YEX 143-1 in the dead wax.
6). The jacket is numbered PMC 1240 on the inside and there is a gold foil sticker that states "Stereo & Mono" on the upper right hand corner of the cover of the jacket.
7). There is a green inner sleeve with 2 Beatles records pictured, The Beatles In Italy and Rubber Soul, along with many other artists(The Animals,Frank Ifield,Cliff Richard as well as French,Italian and Spanish artists.Oddly 2 of these pictured appear to be printed in reverse.Classical music on the other side).
Condition:The Vinyl plays nicely VG+. The jacket unfortunately is a bit worn and has a series of splits on the spine, but is still intact and not detached.Ring and edge wear, creases also. G+ condition only. The inner sleeve is in VG- condition with one split on the side a little over 2" and another on the upper corner about 1" and some creases from bent corners.
Records get shipped padded and in a box for protection. I can send Media Mail or Priority Mail. Check out my other items. I will combine shipping. Thanks for looking...
