-
“MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR” LP by The Beatles
-
This LP is Capitol Records SMAL - 2835.
-
It was issued November 27, 1967.
-
This LP, both cover and vinyl, is a copy of the FIRST STEREO PRESSING/ISSUE OF THIS BEATLES TITLE FROM CAPITOL RECORDS.
-
We know this because:
-
First of all, the labels don’t have “subsidiary” in the perimeter print on the label. (see images)
-
First Pressing Labels credit BMI for all of the songs on both sides. (see images) (Later revised labels credit ASCAP for the songs on Side 1 and BMI for the songs on Side 2.)
-
Initial (First) Covers’ Inner Slicks have Maclen Music BMI credits for all of the songs. This is printed near the bottom inside the front cover (see image) (Later covers credit ASCAP for the songs on Side 1 and BMI for the songs on Side 2.)

This LP has a GATE-FOLD COVER with a 24-Page booklet inside. The booklet inside is complete, but the center pages stapled together came loose at some time in the past. (This commonly occurred with the booklet, as the first and last pages were glued to the inner spine of the cover, but the stapled section of pages were not held well.) There is a manufacturing defect/flaw in the cutting of upper corners of two of the pages near the rear of the booklet as you can see in the images.
-
The GATE-FOLD COVER is in VG+ CONDITION. There is light overall wear on the front and rear cover. The cover is nice and clean with white borders. There are NO seam splits, NO tears, NO ring wear and NO writing on the cover. There are 2 small corner pushes at the bottom left and right corners.
-
This is an EAST COAST COVER. We know this, because East Coast Covers have “No, you’re not!” under “I Am the Walrus” in block letters. (West Coast Covers have ‘No, you’re not!” in handwritten instead of block-style type.)
-
The VINYL has the “?” (with IAM inside the triangle) in the trail-off wax. This is the symbol Capitol Records used to identify vinyl pressed at its Scranton Pressing Plant. Therefore, THIS VINYL IS THE CORRECT VINYL FOR THIS EAST COAST COVER!
-
The VINYL is STRONG VG to VG+ CONDITION with some very light/slight surface hairlines/scuffs (none “feel-able”).
It’s a NICE VG to VG+ FIRST STEREO PRESSING of this BEATLES LP TITLE to add to your vinyl collection if you’re looking for one.
