The Beatles: Sgt Pepper 1st Press Mono With Cut-Out. Extra Dot. Tested. Audio Excellent.

MONO PMC 7027. FIRST EVER PRESSING. FIRST PRESS MATRIX, WITH GATEFOLD FLIP BACK LAMINATED SLEEVE WITH ORIGINAL CUT-OUTS, KT EMBOSSED TAX CODE TO SIDE 1.

PLAY TESTED. EXCELLENT AUDIO

The audio is excellent throughout, with just some crackle/surface noise on intros, a couple of light clicks on ‘Lucy’ run-out, and extended piano note on ‘Day In The Life’. Very very little/if any, elsewhere, even on the quieter sections. An excellent audio experience.

VISUAL - VG+

Visually, there is a glossy sheen, with most marks/hairlines/very light scuffs visible under an angled light only. Other marks/hairlines etc are slightly more visible, but there’s nothing feelable or audible on playback.

LABELS (Extra dot to side 1) - Excellent. Embossed KT Tax Code.

The labels are clean and graffiti free on both sides, and are again excellent, with spindle ware really only visible to the centre hole on side 2. And of course, side 1 has the misprinted extra dot, with ‘SOLD IN.U.K. SUBJECT TO RESALE’ etc. It was originally thought that only Stereo pressings had this misprint, but a small number of Mono pressings had the same error, and are becoming increasingly difficult to track down.

CUT-OUT - VG+

Original cut-out, in VG* condition, with just a small ‘nick’ to top centre (above hat), and faint mark to top left and to right of ‘Sgt. Pepper’ below yellow striped trouser.

GATEFOLD SLEEVE - VERY GOOD+

The laminated g/f sleeve is clean, bright, and has just relatively minor shelf ware/creasing to front and rear.

The spine is easily legible, with some shelf-ware/scuffing.

The inner g/f is superb. Bright, clean, and with very little creasing/ware. The opening edges are clean and defined, with just minor ‘feathering’.

It is the first pressing sleeve, with internal fold over seams/flip backs on the inside, and is in VG+ overall glossy condition.

PLAIN WHITE INNER. VG+

No rips or tares or seam splits. Light brown stain to top right of ‘Patent’ side.

In conclusion, this is a lovely, original first press mono, with rare ‘extra dot’ misprint and cut-out, with excellent audio, which I’d give an overall grading as VG++. I do though tend to be quite conservative in my gradings/descriptions, as being a collector myself, I appreciate that accurate and honest grading is paramount. Thus, I retain a 100% positive feedback rating, so rest assured, you can bid with confidence.
