Description

An original 2nd press of Revolver on the UK Parlophone label from 1966. Matrix 2/2. Please note this label design is very early and comes as the first copies of Dr.Robert are corrected to 'Doctor'. Look at the text layout on the labels and note how crowded the lower half is. Particularly on side 1...There's no space between the band's name and the tracks listed, or the publishing credit. This is an early iteration of the design more in keeping with the very 1st label design. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original G&L cover with flipbacks. Also included is an original Emitex inner sleeve from the time. So, 100% complete and 100% genuine.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In beautiful condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are really quiet and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. Many copies of Revolver will sound "quite good", but it's not really all that often that you find "really sweet" playing copies. This example is one of the better examples that I've auditioned. Beautifully clean audio with all frequencies resolved with accuracy and precision. Even those tricky tracks like Here,There, Everywhere & Eleanor Rigby Yellow Submarine play relatively clean - which is a difficult find. I did pick out a few light static crackles audible in a couple of spots in ER + HTE, but both these are particularly fussy tracks. It's very low level and in no way "upfront" - they just won't play quite as darn clean as the rest of the LP. Overall an impressive delivery which you would struggle to equal, let alone better.
Cover (Ex+) In super condition and has clearly been very carefully looked after. I can only make out one a couple of tiny thumbnail creases on the front. The rear looks superb and there are no signs of surface wear or ageing. I mean it really does look terrific. All flipbacks are perfectly intact and secure. Edge wear is very minor and the spine is pretty much all intact. A couple of stress creases on the spine, but all text nice and legible. Overall the cover retains perfect rigidity. Very impressive.
