Description
Here is a fine copy of the great "The Beatles" White Album. This is a Charity sale - the album was a kind donation to Naomi House, a Hampshire hospice charity.
I "do the records" for the local charity shop, so am e-baying this for them.
So, quick overview - what have we got? Excellent top-loader cover, poster used but intact (no pin-holes, no blu-tack, no tears), black inners (both creased and slightly torn at the bottom of the circular hole, from putting the records back in.) No photos of the group members.
Mono records - PMC 7067 on the labels.
Cover is in excellent condition - edges are excellent (even along the opening), inevitable ring-wear, cover has shaped/moulded to the shape of the records, but little actual wear/abrasion. Nice embossed title, number in dark ink (0289976). The only minor flaws, are a nick in the flip-back on inside left, and a little graffito beneath the tracklist, where somebody's tried to draw on it, but failed due to the shiny laminate. I've put up scans to show these little flaws.
The records play very well. I'd say 90% of the tracks play with no crackling or "pops".
How good is that?
The audio quality is stunning - I've never heard a mono copy of this before, played it good and loud, to listen for faults, and I was knocked-out. The loud tracks are stunning, and "Revolution No. 9" sounds amazing.
It's only fair to describe any minor flaws.
Side 1 - Mostly perfect, occasional light crackles on "Dear Prudence", and odd single light crackles here-and-there, probably specks of dust!
Side 2 - A few crackles at the start of the side, generally fine. "Blackbird" very clear, a few light crackles on "Julia".
Side 3 - Only light crackling here-and-there, crackling is louder on "Long Long Long".
Side 4 - Gentle background crackling in silent parts only.
A professional cleaning will probably make records sound even better, some of this crackling is probably removeable!
I can accept returns within one week - after that, I'll have given the proceeds over to the Charity.
Rare Record Price Guide says £250 for a mint copy of this. This is an Excellent copy. Starting price for the Auction at £60.
Records will be shipped in good-quality polythene inners.
