Description

Here is a near mint Stereo, numbered, top opening  White Album complete with all inserts including the paper spacer for the four photo's of the Fabs.
The album is a rare variant having the misspelt Rocky Raccoon as Rocky Racoon on the record label.  This only exists on the stereo version of the album, not the mono.
The album has plain white inner sleeves not black.  This is important in dating the album.  There are two possibilities.
Firstly, someone could have switched the original black inners for white making it a first batch release. The labels appear to be "dark" in common with the first batch.
Alternatively, if the possibility of an inner sleeve "switch" is discounted  then it is possible this copy could be a second pressing from early 1969.
1969 was the year EMI issued second pressings of Revolver, Rubber Soul, Collection of Beatles Oldies and Sgt Pepper with either plain white sleeves or sepia "LP advertising" inner sleeves. They also did a second pressing of the White album with all the extras, numbered, in stereo only, and in two batches - top opening and side opening.
The White Album was released in 1968 in time for the Christmas season and sold continuously, the 1969 second and separate production run would have followed closely afterwards possibly even January 1969, which would explain the inclusion of the "Sold In The UK etc..." label text - a text that was omitted from Spring 1969.
If the "racoon" error was on the second 1969 pressing , (and it is entirely probable given the obscurness of the error - who would have noticed) then it is one of the errors which was not corrected immediately. Most errors occur on only the very earliest pressings.
Either way this is a very rare pressing.

The album comes with the original top loading numberedGatefold Sleeve by Garrod and Lofthouse. It is made in the medium thick card and is fully laminated with the title - THE BEATLES - embossed under the laminate. There is a fold over line on the front cover under the lamination and a couple of small lines where the lamination has lifted from the card. These could have been present from new. Number 0534009.  The cover has maintained its creamish white sheen, and overall has light wear only.  There is no feathering to the Top openings, which is very rare.

I have not played this album prior to listing. In fact I have never played it.  I bought it years ago to sit alongside my own stereo copy which had been regularly played and lost it's photo's and poster to my teenage bedroom wall!
The records are glossy vinyl, and a really thick pressing. I have examined the record under strong light and can only see one surface mark on side 4. Other than that I can't see anything. There are no spindle marks.  Please note that I am trying to give an honest assessment but this is not a forensic examination - there may be something I have missed .  You are welcome to call and check the album in person before you bid.
I WILL POST BY AIRMAIL WORLDWIDE. I WILL GET A CERTIFICATE OF POSTING TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE ALBUM BEEN SENT. POSTAGE AND INSURANCE FOR THIS ITEM COULD BE HIGH.  IF YOU WIN I"LL CONTACT YOU FOR YOU PREFERENCES.  I DO NOT ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBLITIY FOR ANY LOSSES. I  WILL POST AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
