Description
This auction is for The Beatles "Please Please Me/Ask Me Why" vinyl 45 - Vee Jay Records 498 with VJ generic company sleeve. Released 2/7/63.
This is the actual first commercial pressing of this record. The group name is misspelled with two Ts. The labels are black with color band and oval logo. Song writing credits (J.Lennon & P.McCartney) are almost as wide as "Please Please Me." This was pressed by American Pressing Co (ARP). "ARP" is in the dead wax as it the Audio Matrix stamp. Matrix number for the A side is 63-2967; B side is 63-2968.
This is listed as Vee Jay 01A in Beatles' reference books. This is the most scarce of the Vee Jay 498s and is the actual first commercial pressing.
The labels are clean with just a very small mark on the A side. The vinyl looks great with some light scratches, etc - visually grades - vg++ or better. Plays great.
