Description
The Chameleons John Peel Sessions. Strange Fruit SFRLP114. 1990.
I rushed out to purchase this record new on release as the Chameleons were and remain my favourite band. However with the subsequent remastered release of the Peel sessions on Blue Apple records this copy has been sitting redundant in the record box so it is time to move it on to another Chameleons fan.
Under bright light the vinyl is graded as VG+ due to the presence of multiple hairlines and sleeve scuffs. There are no scratches but there is a tiny mark on Side One Track 1 (see photo). There is a small chip at the edge of the vinyl ( see photo) but the record to my knowledge has always been like this. I think it is a manufacturing error.
The vinyl is play graded as VG+ on account of some light background crackle between tracks and some light and occasional clicks during play. For the vast majority the record plays as EX. There is however a noticeable repeating click in the quiet section of Track 4 Side 2 ‘One Flesh’. The mark on Side 1 track 1 ‘The Fan and the Bellows’ does not impact play. There are no jumps or skips.
The sleeve is graded as EX on account of a small dink and wear to the top left corner (see photo). Otherwise sleeve is free of marks, creases and wear. Very close to Near Mint. The inner sleeve is a poly bag which is the original inner sleeve the record was presented in.
Altogether not a perfect copy but still more than listenable. Listed at half the value of a NM copy.
All my vinyl for sale comes from my personal collection which I take great care of. Records are handled carefully and sleeves are kept in PVC sleeves for protection. Generally my vinyl is in at least EX condition, though sometimes sellers have over-graded records I have bought and occasionally, if a record is rare or expensive I will buy at VG+. I still have a few records (as is the case with this record) that have been in my care from the days of my youth when I was sadly a bit less careful with my records!
Grading vinyl is a subjective business even with classification systems to guide you. If you disagree with my grading that’s absolutely fine. I will be happy to discuss the issues and resolve them. I try to be honest but I am human and can get things wrong - occasionally!
All records are posted in designated vinyl mailers with stiffeners for added protection during transit. All items come from a smoke and pet free environment.
