Description
L.A. Woman is the sixth studio album and final major label album by the American rock band. It was released on the Elektra Records label in April 1971. It is also the last to include lead singer Jim Morrison in his lifetime. Even more than their previous album it is heavily influenced by the blues. It was recorded without producer Paul A. Rothschild who left in frustration over the band’s perceived lack of quality in their studio performances. The album was co-produced by the band themselves and engineer Bruce Botnick. “Love Her Madly” was released as a single, peaking at #20 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Single’s chart. The track “ Riders On The Storm” also had chart success. The album peaked at #9 nationally on the Top 200 Albums chart. The first cover pressing had a burgundy-colored curved corner cutout sleeve, framing a clear embossed cellophane insert, glued in from behind. The inner sleeve as seen through the cover’s “window” features a picture of Morrison as crucified upon a telephone pole. The sleeve was quickly banned and subsequent covers omitted the window and sleeve, depicting a photo of the band instead. Very nice , clean copy w/ die-cut cover and banned inner from ‘71 here.
