Description
This listing is for an original UK mono pressing of the Doors 1967 debut album.
Sleeve
- Sleeve is fully laminated
- No evidence of the laminate lifting anywhere
- It does betray signs of age - general surface dulling when held up to the light
- There is a very slight crease about 25% of the way in, front right
- Slight cover wave on the rear - no evidence of water damage, looks to be a result of the manufacturing process
- Very slight evidence of ring wear when held up to the light
- Overall, I'd rate this as very good
Record
- Betrays a very slight warp on play back. This does not interfere with play
- Very little evidence of spindle wear on either label
- Label shows "Polydor Records" at six o'clock which Record Collector reports as indicating that this is the second of two UK mono pressings (first had Elektra Records on the label)
- No evidence of surface scratches or marks
- Played back on a Pro-ject deck with Rega amp:-
- Slight background crackle on run in on side one
- Slight background crackle on run in to side 2; slightly more pronounced than on side 2 and this is slightly evident during the opening of Back Door man
- Very slight background crackle can be detected at the start of End of the Night
The sound on playback is very good - the mono mix seems to push the keyboard forward ahead of the guitar and the whole thing sounds much more powerful than the standard stereo.
Great example of this rare and hard to find record.
