Monstrously rare 1st 1967 German pressing of The Doors “Strange Days”. This pressing is incredibly collectible and one of the rarest issues of this album. Throughout its two years existence from 1966 to 1968, the German record label “HIT-TON” released the “Strange Days” album and several incredibly rare, even in Germany, 45 RPM records. Original single-type laminated front German printed cover with a large “HIT-TON Schallplatten” boxed logo and catalog number HTSLP 340046. Original 1st pressing “GEMA 33” yellow / black labels “made in Germany by Deutsche vogue GmbH” with the HTSLP 340046 catalog number, a large boxed “HIT-TON Schallplatten” logo and the “1967” date. The full 1st pressing matrix numbers containing the “S” suffix identifying the vinyl’s sound format as Stereo on Side 2 are as follows: Side 1 - 340046 A-1; Side 2 - 340046 B-1 S. The album comes with the original “HIT-TON” plain white poly-lined inner sleeve.

If I had to grade the front cover and the back cover separately I would grade the front as Near Mint Minus and the back as Very Good Plus. The front cover is very clean and the lacquer has been preserved beautifully with only a little amount of light age shelf wear. The back cover has some ring wear and light scuffing along with a little bit of writing and stains from the tape, but only the stains and no actual tape or any residue. The spine has practically no scuffs or wear and contains a fully readable text. The original "Hit-ton Schallplatten" inner sleeve is in Near Mint Minus condition and doesn't have any splits or tears. I grade the vinyl visually as Very Good Plus as it has light non-feelable surface scuffs and marks, but they don't affect the playback, which is fantastic! The Side 1 label is in Excellent Minus condition due to a little bit of writing as evident from the photo and a couple of very light spindle marks that can be seen only under a strong light source, but the Side 2 label is in Near Mint Minus condition and is completely wear-, scuff- and spindle mark-free. As mentioned previously, the vinyl sounds amazing with a punchy, vivid and saturated sound, only having some very light occasional light static that most likely could get reduced or go away completely if the record is professionally cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine.
