Original 1st US Elektra Records pressing of The Doors’ second studio album “Strange Days” released on November 23, 1967 with a rare original “Elektra ‘68” catalog. Original 1st misprint Monaural cover with the Mono EKL-4014 catalog number at the top left of the front cover and the top right of the back cover, and the Stereo EKS-74014 index at the top of the spine. The currently listed copy comes with the original inner sleeve containing a photo of the band on the front side and lyrics on the back, which also has a misprint indicating the Stereo EKS-74014 catalog number. Original 1st print Elektra Records EKL-4014 Mono brown labels with a large “E” logo and “®” Trademark” sign right next to him on the left. 1st Columbia Records, Pitman, NJ plant pressing with the very early matrix numbers including the “P” factory identifier and the initials of the mastering engineer Ray Hagerty: Side 1 - P P EKL4014A (CP) 1 Ray Hagerty’s Initials B3; Side 2 – P P EKL 4014B  (CP) Ray Hagerty’s Initials F6. This 1st Mono pressing copy comes with an original "ELEKTRA'68" fold-out 5-panel catalog, which contains a photo of the band and the information about The Doors’ first two albums.

 We grade the Monophonic cover of this copy as Near Mint, practically Mint Minus. It remains in its original factory shrink wrap. The glossy vinyl is graded as Very Good Plus. It retains its beautiful factory lacquer only having some very light non-feelable surface hairlines and marks as well as scuffs from the original inner sleeve, which is in Near Mint condition. The labels are very clean, scuff- and wear-free, and in Near Mint Minus condition with only the Side 2 label having just a couple of very light spindle marks visible under a strong light. The vinyl plays great only having some light static, which is more noticeable during the quiet parts. The beginning of Side 1 has a series of light pops which might go away if you change the weight of your phonograph's tonearm. Likewise, the static might get reduced or go away if the record is professionally cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine. The original "Elektra'68" catalog is in pristine Near Mint condition.
