super-deluxe box set is part of the BMG 'Art Of The Album' series, which focuses
specifically on high quality, bespoke packaged re-issues of seminal albums within the
BMG catalogue, offering the highest spec audio masters and original artwork. The
set contains remastered original LPs, CDs of the remastered original albums plus
 a wealth of unreleased bonus material, reproduced 7" singles, deluxe hardback photo
book with comprehensive notes and new band interviews, and reproduced original
 memorabilia. Somewhat overlooked upon its release in November 1968,
The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society is now seen as one of the best
British albums ever recorded. Created in difficult circumstances by a band who refused
to follow fashion, it is an album of timeless, perfectly crafted songs about growing up and
 growing old, and the decline of national culture and traditional ways. Enduring and
 unsurpassed, with its wit, sadness, quiet anger, regret and charm, it is generally
considered the high point of The Kinks’ outstanding career and Ray Davies’ masterpiece.
 A calm, nostalgic album which feels like a sweet, hazy dream but with endless layers of
musical and lyrical innovation, The Village Green Preservation Society’s defiantly British
sensibilities became the foundation of generations of British guitar pop.

The three remaining discs are a trio of replica seven-inch singles,
reproduced in picture sleeves. They are:

There are 174 tracks in total 

with “many previously unreleased tracks and versions”, including the
 previously unreleased track ‘Time Song’ which was performed by The Kinks
at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane in January 1973. This track was Davies’ commentary
on the UK joining what was then called The Common Market. Ray says “This song
was recorded a few weeks later but never made the final cut on the
Preservation Act I album. Oddly enough, the song seems quite poignant and
appropriate to release at this time in British history, and like Europe itself the
track is a rough mix which still has to be finessed.” This track features
in the box set and the 2CD edition.

The box set comes with a 52-page hardcover book with extensive sleeve
notes and new band interviews and includes essays by Pete Townshend
and other writers. It boasts “special packaging” with debossed box cover,
foil & metallic text, linen cloth finish and a ‘bespoke accessories holder’.

It also comes with what we like to call ‘stuff’… broadly categorised as
‘memorabilia’. This includes a poster of Village Green LP inner gatefold;
Empire Liverpool 1968 tour poster; glossy 10” x 8” photos from Hampstead
Heath 1968 photoshoot; colour press photo with reproduced band signatures;

LP PACKAGING
We package our LPs in a thick cardboard LP mailer. 
We ALWAYS take the LP out of the jacket of 2nd hand items to 
avoid any seam splitting that could occur in shipment. 
We put the LP and the jacket in an LP plastic sleeve. 
We do NOT open sealed LPs unless requested. 
We cushion the LP in bubble wrap and use shipping tape 
on all spines to protect the integrity of the box, and to 
insure the safety of the contents. All this is included in

the low shipping price. We will clean your purchase on our 
VPI machine if and when necessary. This insures that 
you receive your item in the best possible condition.

 LP SHIPPING
We offer the US Postal Service’s Media Mail and / or Priority 
for shipping in the U.S. Buyer’s choice. The buyer pays the shipping, 
packing (see above) and handling charges. Tracking is included 
with both. We occasionally run domestic shipping specials.

Shipping to other countries is by the United States Postal 
Service's First Class Mail International. Priority International
