I just recently bought a small grouping of UK 60's beat/pop/garage/psych 7"s from a well-known Sydney collector in the throes of selling off his collection.
Anyway, this is one of them. ::ARTIST: The PACK ::TRACKS: "DO YOU BELIEVE IN MAGIC" / "THINGS BRING ME DOWN" ::FORMAT: …vinyl 7” single… ::LABEL: COLUMBIA::CATALOGUE #: DB-7702
::PRESSED IN: UK::RELEASE DATE: 1965
::ORIGINAL FIRST PRESSING?: ...Yes, it is...
::CONDITION (cover/record): ( - / EX ) ...vinyl is so shiny!...beautiful copy...never released in pic sleeve...comes in its original company sleeve...
::LABEL CONDITION: 'A' side: EX 'B' side: M-
...These guys came out of a small village in Wiltshire, UK, and this was their only release, but it's a killer...they amped up the Lovin' Spoonful song to something else - nowhere near as lame as the original - this is tough garage-pop with a cool guitar solo...'B' side written by group bass player Brian Gregg who'd been in the original 3-piece Johnny Kidd and the Pirates (it's his distinctive and very cool bass lines you hear on "Shakin' All Over") - it's the common tale of his girl going off with another guy and how it makes him feel - he's not happy - but he got this damn good garage-punker out of it...Here's a pic of them taken the following year - things don't look like they've gotten any better for him (the moody one at the back, leaning on the tree)...
