Description

An original 1st issue of BIG HITS on the UK Decca label. Matrix 2A/4A. Please note the Decca deep groove which is indicative of 1st issue. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original Mono gatefold cover - not a peephole version like the later copies. Also included is the original Decca inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In lovely condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection we can only make out a couple of light marks either side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Do bear in mind that so so many of these greatest hits LPs have been played to death over the years. Finding a little abused copy is not all that easy. But when you do boy do they sound good - all in MONO. The test track is 'Lady Jane' ...and it plays clean as a whistle! Intros and inbetweens are very nice and quiet and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. Interference is very limited in nature. You might pick up a few crackles in a couple of isolated spots e.g. A couple in Satisfaction and a couple in Tears.... But by and large this is a clean player that delivers a super rendition.
Cover (Ex/Ex+) Wow, if only all 60's copies looked this pristine. Look at that front cover...there's no dulling in the colours and hardly any of the usual laminate lift an creasing. It's worth re-iterating that that front opening panel is beautifully flat, stiff, and without curl at all! The rear is in equally good condition - borderline faultless. The interior continues in just as fine form - it really has only seen very light use. All pages are perfectly intact and have not been heavily thumbed at all. Edge wear is very very minor indeed and the spine is pretty much perfectly intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity and the opening edge is still sharp. What a specimen!
Inner (Ex/Ex+) Very lightest touch of ageing. Otherwise perfect. No splits or markings.
