Description
The experience of buying records on Ebay is ruined if, when they arrive, you discover that they are either not in the condition stated or have been damaged in the post! For this reason I describe all my items in detail, and only post using strong sturdy packaging in a 'box' mailer with the record outside the sleeve to avoid seam-splitting. They are also from a non-smoking and pet-free home.
I accept returns and offer a full refund if you are not happy with your purchase.
The Smiths - 'The Queen Is Dead' Near Mint UK Vinyl LP - 1986
Catalogue No. ROUGH 96 - Rough Trade
This is an original Rough Trade pressing of this highly-sought after quintessential Smiths LP. With its gatefold packaging complete with lyrics and the famous 'Salford Lads Club' image of the band, this LP is truly a pleasure to own. This particular copy has been preserved in especially fine condition (as detailed below). Despite being over 25 years old, this copy of this collectable LP looks almost as if it could have been bought new this week; it has been incredibly well looked-after. Note that while the 'B Side' label appears as normal, the label on the 'A Side' is completely white; though it is likely that this was a pressing 'anomaly' rather than an intention to use this LP as a promotional item. This copy is accompanied by an unusual poster which depicts an alternate take on the sleeve artwork (which is actually the version which was used for the promotional post cards at the time). Although it is believed that the poster was very likely not issued by Rough Trade, it is clearly professionally-printed and is a very nice item to own and display; it is in beautiful un-folded state and therefore an ideal candidate for framing. It will be posted out separately to the LP and rolled in a poster tube to preserve its condition. Note that the corners of the poster in the photos are held down by pound coins (these are not marks on the corners of the poster), which are not included in the auction. The vinyl and labels are in remarkable near mint condition, retaining its glossy 'sheen' with next-to-no surface marks other than the very occasional 'hairline' surface mark which is only visible if held to the light; it appears to have been played only a few times. The inner sleeve has no marks, splits or creases and is similarly in near mint condition. The impressive outer gatefold sleeve is also in superb near mint condition and is probably the biggest testimony to how well this LP had been looked-after. There are no creases, marks, writing or other damage and all edges are sharp. There is not even the beginning of any seam-splitting and the corners show only the mildest of 'rubbing' in a few places. The faces of the gatefold sleeve remain flat and glossy, and give the visual impact of a new LP which is usually very quickly lost after only a short time of being in normal use. The poster is in immaculate unfolded and unhung state, and will be posted rolled up to keep it this way. Please see the accompanying photos; note that the 'Ebay ID' lettering is just on the pictures and not on the items themselves.
All my auctions start at 1P and have NO RESERVE. They are all 100% genuine, original versions. Some are in mint/new condition and some are used; all will go to the highest bidder. I offer a money-back guarantee if anything is described incorrectly. Postage and Packing is 4.00 in the UK for untracked and uninsured standard postage, this is subsidised by myself and the actual costs to me will usually be higher. Please do consider paying the extra 70p for tracked postage since there is nothing that can be done to find out what happened if the parcel is lost when standard postage is chosen. Shipping costs are greater for overseas buyers, but still subsidised and very good value; please check prices by using the options above or feel free to ask. Extra items are sent at no extra postage charge to the buyer (see below). I always take great care to package items well with strong mailing materials.See my other auctions for related rare items here. If multiple auctions are won at the same time (within a week), I will charge only the postage cost for the heaviest item and pay the remaining postage myself. This is the case wherever you live. If you are planning to bid, but cannot be around at the end of the auction, I have found this (free) site to be useful; note that I am not affiliated with the site in any way!
