The Teenagers featuring Frankie Lymon

1956 GEE RECORDS (first pressing) Red & Black Labels

High Fidelity GLP 701

Let me just start by saying it’s killing me that the cover of this gem isn’t in the same condition as the vinyl.

The record is in magnificent condition. The red/black labels of this 1956 First Pressing appear new. The record edge is sharp enough to slice bread. The shiny surface is bright. I just played it for one last time and the sound is as clean as any new pressing, maybe better.

The cover isn’t trashed by any means but it needs to be in better shape for this piece of vinyl. It is an original first pressing cover and shows plenty of the original high gloss as can be seen in the provided photos. The front slick is solid with just about 100% of the original gloss intact and no ring wear. The rear cover is clean enough but the top seam is split. The spine has a piece of tape and some chipping. The bottom seam is intact.

I’ve tried to provide good photos that will show you what I’m describing and hope some other collectors out there get as excited as I do in having a vintage LP from the early days of R’nR in such good and well cared for condition. A mid 1950s Rock ‘N Roll 12” is such a rarity no matter who the artist is and finding ones that aren’t beat is no easy task.

I’ve searched for a copy of this record with the reverse situation just to pair it up with a better cover but haven’t been able to find one that works so I’ll list it as is and price it accordingly with a big lean towards the record.
