Description

An original 1st/2nd issue of Tommy on UK Track from 1969 whilst the album was still charting. Matrix A1/B3/A1/B2. Please note this is absolutely not a 1st press...those have a distinctive laminated cover and all the 1's for the matrix. This example is likely to have originated toward the end of the 1st issue stage and whist they were in the middle of a label change. Note how the labels on Disc 1 mentions 'DOUBLE ALBUM' in large letters - this is the very 1st design. The second disc only mentions the publishing date - this is the 2nd issue design. So, this copy comes at a time where they're transitioning between the two. What this copy does offer the buyer is the chance to pick up an early copy with all the audio attributes of the 1st copies - at a keen price. Please note the labels are matt and not ridged - this is a [later]1969 pressing. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original gatefold cover with the bolder blue hues, but remember - there's no lamination. Also included is the lyric booklet stamped with number "55108". Also included are both plastic bag warning inner sleeves. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) In lovely condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of very light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are pretty much silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. Beautifully clean audio and I can assure you that the early copies sound G-R-E-A-T. Interference is closing in on non-existent. All I could detect were a few crackles in a couple of isolated spots - per disc. Across four sides of vinyl  - that's an impressive strike rate! You'd struggle finding a copy that would even match the audio on offer here...
Cover (Ex-) In lovely condition and has clearly been cared for down the years. A very clean and uncreased flat front cover exhibiting very little wear at all. The rear is equally good with just lightest handling. The interior follows this trend - immaculate..no creases or ageing at all. Edge wear is light for this title and just showing a bit on the spine - nothing heavy though. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inners (Ex) No splits or writing. Light ageing at the glue points.
Lyric Book (Ex+) All intact. Not heavily thumbed. No ageing.
