Description
Transatlantic Alliance TEMPO TAP 19 UK 1958. Jazz Vinyl LP. RARE.
Players: Victor Feldman, Dizzy Reece, Tubby Hayes, Jimmy Deuchar
Surface noise is noticeable in some lower volume passages. This record is not perfect. There is noise and surface scratches but you'll find the sublime music more than makes up for it. I think G is a conservative Goldmine grading.
Quoting from Goldmine:
Good (G), Good Plus (G+) or Very Good Minus (VG–) "Good does not mean bad! The record still plays through without skipping and it has significant surface noise."
According to this grading then this record could be graded from G+ to VG- or better since the surface noise is only occasional.
As is, no returns.Good condition with surface marks and noise but no pops or skips when played on my system: Realistic STA-90 receiver and Philips GA212 turntable with Stanton 600 cartridge and KLH Model 23 speakers. I find vinyl grading to be very subjective. Yes, there is surface noise here and there but the quality of the recording remains true to original production. The inner sleeve is original and in good condition. The outer sleeve is in tact with some normal wear, wear ring outlining vinyl edge, and bumped corner. The plastic film coating is good, no pieces missing.
See photos.
Considered one of the greatest jazz albums to come out of the UK. I have a lot of rare jazz albums and this is one represents the best of late '50's jazz. Also, consider the scarcity of this Tempo TAP release. As far as I can tell this is the first one of this release to come up for sale in years.
Would make a very special Christmas present.
