UNKNOWN ARTIST -- Too Many Hang Ups -- ex. rare, original 7" 45 RPM U.S. single. Here's another lost gem from the vaults: this is an apparently totally-unknown and unreleased Demo Acetate test pressing for an excellent late 1960's-vintage Jackie DeShannon - Kiki Dee style Mod - Sunshine Pop - Soft Rock style number titled "Too Many Hang Ups." The song starts out softly with bittersweet female vocals and melancholy Latin guitar, then kicks into high gear with some swinging Mod organ and uptempo beat for the chorus. Sample lyrics: "You were the sun when there was none / But somehow you've changed / You're acting very, very strange / Just can't bring you 'round / It's bringing me down, down, down ..." There's no date or artist indicated but from the overall vibe and groovy counter-culture lyrics -- "hang ups," "bringing me down" etc. -- I'm guessing 1969 - 1971 at the latest. I can't find any information that this was ever released commercially; note that the label, credited to Maribus Music Inc., mis-spells the song title as "To Many Hang Ups." In generic white sleeve. Record: Fair to Good, light surface wear on acetate, light-to-moderate background noise from quality of demo test pressing, on Maribus label, U.S. press.
