The Riot Rockers 'Brand New Cadillac' an ultimately rare & unique 7 inch -Acetate/Direct Cut/Demo. 45rpm.1981.
Going through my old record productions, and I came across this gem of a demo record that I recorded and produced for 'The Riot Rockers' back in 1981!
This high value item, will no doubt interest the serious collector!
This unique,100% original and now highly valuable, Acetate/Direct Cut/Demo Disc is in excellent condition, no scratches and not warped and it plays brilliantly from beginning to end. It has only been played once or twice to check it out. It has hand written information on the label, (see image),and the name of, Tam studio in London printed on the label where it was cut on, 9th June 1981. Only been played a few times for recording and mix reference, and it's been in storage ever since.
The sleeve is white card with hand written information on it and polythene lined.(see image).
What makes this Acetate/Direct Cut/Demo unique and different is the actual cut. At the end of the track,'Brand New Cadillac' by accident the cutting engineer left the cutting lathe in the record mode and has recorded the sound of him rewinding the master-tape at high speed on this disc. The B. side has also been cut, but it's NOT The Riot Rockers, I don't know who it is, but I advise the eventual purchaser not to play it as it may damage the stylus (needle). because the cutting engineer has scored across it to prevent playing.
Acetate/Demo-Discs are more rigid than vinyl, they are aluminium plate then covered in vinyl coating.These are not meant for resale or to be played regularly like vinyl pressings, they are just for reference for the cutting engineer, for e.q, sample mastering, distortion, clipping, processing, level, mix & quality, before the vinyl pressings are produced ect: They are cut direct from the master tape onto the disc. Groups & Artistes in the 50's,60's,70's & 80's, used to send these to Record Companies and agents as Demo's.
I can verify that this unique Acetate/Direct Cut/Demo-Disc is a 100% genuine item, because I produced the actual recording of this demo for The Riot Rockers in my own studio, Humberside Recording Studios, Laceby, Grimsby, UK, in 1981, and I always acquired copies of everything I recorded & produced for technical & future reference. I have now reluctantly decided not to put it back in the box, but time to let it go to a good home, after all these years.
