Description
Here is a hard to find STOCK copy of a single by George Washington Brown: "Donovan's Colours" b/ "Donovan's Colours" (WB 7026). George Washington Brown is actually Van Dyke Parks, who released this single shortly after ending his collaboration with Brian Wilson on the SMiLE project. The song is taken from Van's first solo LP, "Song Cycle." Produced by Lenny Waronker, arranged by Van Dyke Parks. Written by Donovan Leitch.

The versions of the song differ only slightly: the non-plug side fades out, while the plug side ends abruptly with a backwards tape effect. Both sides are mono mixes, and include a short vocal by Van Dyke Parks mid-way through the song (he sings the lyric "blue is the color" with heavy reverb and echo). This vocal does not appear on the stereo version, nor does it appear on the LP.
This is the hard to find orange label stock copy. Even the shite label promo copies are somewhat hard to find. And this copy is in excellent condition. The nicest I've ever seen.
Record is in EX condition. Labels are clean: no stickers or tears. Just the letters "A" and "B" written on the A and B sides, respectively (see photos). No drill hole, which is amazing since just about all of the stock copies I've seen have the drill hole (which meant no returns).
