Description
From 1968, out of California, comes Van Dyke Parks with his album Song Cycle on Warner Bros 1727 gold label. Excellent twelve song album of tremendous orchestrated psych! This is one of those major label masterpieces that a lot of people don't know about, other than audiophile people. This album may be one of the perfect albums (musically) of the late 60's! Van Dyke Parks is a musicologist and a superb songwriter and craftsman of his art. The first song on the album is a Randy Newman song, on which Randy plays piano. The album is produced by Lenny Waronker. This is the first cover also, as the rear photo is across the top. On subsequent pressings, it was relocated to the side. A masterpiece!
