Some of them over 100 years old, the entire collection is a time capsule to a land and time that's at once instantly familiar yet seemingly aeons away. From the pained demonstrations of Hikmat Hajjar and his emphatic backing band to the more hopeful tones and rising chords of Muhyiddin Ba'Yun, the collection taps into a time when music for entertainment was still frowned upon and had to be performed and recorded in a clandestine way.
