BASIC GRADING GUIDELINES

 

Individual defects that cause playback problems will be indicated.  If you buy a V- record and it has a rim chip that's not close to the grooves it won't be mentioned; however, if the record is graded V+ or above, it will be mentioned.

 

M-  (Mint Minus) -  New record or store stock, perhaps unplayed

E+  (Excellent Plus)looks & plays like new (no surface noise)

E   (Excellent)  -  very shiny, nearly new, no visible wear, inaudible scuffs and scratches. (Music to  noise = 95/5)

E-  (Excellent Minus)  -  still shiny with few light scratches (90/10)

V+  (Very Good Plus)the average 78” - slightly dulled finish, moderate wear still generally free from distortion (85/15)

V   (Very Good) -  General wear, surface noise may be significant (70/30)

V-   (Very Good Minus)  - High amount of surface noise and defects (60/40)

G   (Good) -  quite seriously worn and scratched but music still audible with the right equipment (50/50)

G- (Good minus) – mostly a wall-hanger
