Released in 1997, Songs From The Capeman is Paul Simon's ninth solo studio album and serves as a studio interpretation of his Broadway musical The Capeman. Collaborating with Nobel Prize-winning poet Derek Walcott, Simon explores the true story of Salvador Agron, a Puerto Rican gang member in 1950s New York. Musically, the album is a rich tapestry that departs from his previous world-beat explorations, instead diving deep into the authentic sounds of the era: street-corner doo-wop, gospel, rockabilly, and vibrant salsa.

The production is masterful, featuring appearances by the musical's stars, including Marc Anthony and the legendary Ruben Blades. This original 1997 pressing was cut by the renowned Bob Ludwig at Gateway Mastering, ensuring the complex Latin rhythms and Simon's signature precise vocals are captured with incredible clarity. This copy is still sealed with the original hype sticker intact.

I frequently get asked how I came upon so many original albums from the late 1980s and early 1990s. Well, I used to own a HiFi store (see below) and before the advent of the CD, vinyl was the best way to demonstrate HiFi, and I bought a LOT of vinyl. When a local store in Pasadena went belly up, I bought about 400 albums and stored them away in my music room, below my own collection. Apparently the owner had an overseas connection and had imported a slew to sell there, but then ...

Last year, I opened up the bookcase doors and found what I forgot I had stored for the last 30+ years! So, I'm finally selling them off!As a side note, this was one of MANY new/old stock items in the lot I purchased.

Because I am a collector myself, I don't just "look" at records — I play test them (when they aren't sealed!). This album IS STILL FACTORY SEALED and in pristine condition with no issues. The jacket is crisp with sharp corners and the shrink wrap is tight. It has been stored vertically in a smoke-free, temperature-controlled environment for nearly 30 years. The jacket has also been placed in a Japanese resealable outer sleeve to be used once it's opened.

Media Mail (once known as 4th class mail) is a special class of postage for books, music, videos and other printed media available within the US and territories. It is far less expensive than Priority Mail, but - it ..... is ........... slooowwwww!!!! Despite USPS claims of 3-9 day delivery times, MEDIA MAIL CAN actually TAKE UP TO 3 WEEKS to arrive, and their tracking info is frequently not updated until it actually arrives, making that feature pretty useless! PLEASE remember this when you leave feedback scores as the choice is yours and not my fault if it takes a long time to get there! If you want it in a week or less, you are going to have to bite the bullet and pay for Priority Mail which will get it there in 2-3 working days, 99% of the time, but it is more expensive. Basically, the choice is yours, but if you choose media mail, please don't write to me in 5 days asking where your package is, because the post office will have it and most of the time, they don't have a clue!

International deliveries usually arrive within 1-2 weeks but CAN take up to a month! Faster shipping is available on request, but expensive.

Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. You can check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding/buying.
