Following note on the recording was posted by the recording engineer:
Back in the Quadraphonic days, the record of Tom Gnaster at the Thomaston Opera House TOGETHER FOR THE FIRST TIME which included two orchestral transcriptions with piano and organ duets, was done Quadraphonically. We used rear mikes and matrixed them in and out of phase. In theory, the ambience cancels out when played in stereo, but is there when played through a matrix into four channels. It DID work, and the stereo sound wasn't abnormal.
