led zep 1 red and plum label, laminated sleeve, grey stripe at the bottom and that grey stripe really accentuates the audio. obviously the best band that ever walked the earth, strode the boardwalks, blew the amps...page takes his cue from hank marvin, plant from marty wilde. yes. i grew up with an elder sister playing zep every day on a ferguson music centre, essentially they are ingrained in the spirit of sainted albion and part of the blood. but if only theyd stuck with one mood for every song on at least one lp, because they may be the tops but they never made an lp as consistently stunning as wishbone ash's- argus. still,everyone needs this lp, every new generation needs it, because nothing that will come after it will ever touch it. until the new diluvium washes us all away and the cycle starts again starchildren. merely joshing there old bean, or?
grading is - cover / disc
vg++/g + lots of light surface marks/scuffs from repeat plays but clean, this is a decent orig issue fine for listening, its NOT totally trashed, the cover is clean and front and back undamaged, just a few laminate creases near the spine that bring the grade down. the disc has lots of light surface marks from sleeve withdrawal etc, but nothing mariana trench deep. its an lp that obviously gets played, this one has been played, but its actually ok. i mean if you were 15 in 1969 and furtively went out and bought this lp by a new unknown band got it to your record deck and listened to one of the most powerful intense debut lps ever you are not going to let it sit on the shelf and gather dust, you are going to play that f*cker and rightly worship it with due respect. this was cared for after a fashion, and played. if you are a 14 yr old ebayer and win this for £17, do the same, and play it over and over til it dies. then at 90 take it with you into your tomb.
ive listed around 60 rare progressive, psych, folk and blues lps on ebay in a big clear out, please click other items if interested to see them all. they are all getting harder to find as the years go by, and prices and demand seems to have gone stratospheric.
all are 1st pressings, original uk editions.
all lps are placed in period/vintage plain paper inner sleeves. any generic polylined inner sleeves have been discarded as they are unsafe and damage lps, as per the policy of many serious collectors. old pvc lined inners are ageing, chemically unstable, and sticking to lps, paper inners are the only currently known way to avoid it. vertigo inners are retained and sent outside the covers to avoid damaging contact.
most photos show the fronts, backs, spine and labels so cover condition is fully visible in the photos.
lps listed include sam apple pie, hungry wolf, gerry lockran, mike westbrook love songs, shape of the rain, cressida, idle race, five day week straw people, dransfield, fuschia, rockin horse, gentle giant, and the now very rare aubrey small lp with insert.
grading is mainly visual, all the lps have been fully or partly tested mainly on the run in and first tracks, and any visible defects have been played through to see if theres any audible results.
tested on lenco/cyrus/tannoy 60s/70s equipment.
