Description

MEGA-RARE BEATLES LOT: 7 45s FROM THE CAPITOL OF CANADA 72000 SERIES, INCLUDING RINGO’S “LOVE ME DO,” "FROM ME TO YOU," "PLEASE PLEASE ME" AND MORE, PLUS BONUS!

In 1963, way before American teenagers (like me) even heard of The Beatles, Capitol Records of Canada released five 45 rpm singles. Four more followed in early 1964. Each had a five-digit catalog number beginning with 72.

Because they were pressed in very limited quantities (Canada’s population was 1/10th that of the U.S.), and because of their place in music history, these records in the 72000 Series are today considered some of the most valuable of all the Beatles discs!

In this exclusive package, you’ll win the first 7 sensational 45s from the 72000 Series.

PLUS, A FABULOUS BONUS TO THE WINNING BIDDER!

In the order that they came out, here’s what you get:

LOVE ME DO / P.S. I LOVE YOU (CAPITOL 72076)

A flawless-sounding copy of this first Beatles single, with Ringo on drums. The hand-etched matrix number in the deadwax is 7XCE-17144-3 on the A-Side, and 7XCE-17145-2 on the flip side, indicating one of the first pressings, most likely in early 1964.

PLEASE PLEASE ME/ ASK ME WHY (CAPITOL 72090)

Exceptional audio on these two terrific tunes! Both sides have a little bit of writing, and very minor smudging. I don’t think you can ask for much more after almost sixty years.

FROM ME TO YOU / THANK YOU GIRL (CAPITOL 72101)

The audio here is as clean as they come. A small piece of tape residue on the A side is the only thing keeping this exceptional disc from being given Near Mint status.

SHE LOVES YOU / I’LL GET YOU (CAPITOL 72125)

Initially pressed in September 1963, the record generated little interest—can you believe it? A second pressing was made in December, and this is the one you’ll get—note the -2 on the A-Side matrix number. “She Loves You” went to Number One in Canada and “broke” the group nationally. And you’ll love how this 45 sounds as exciting now as it did then.

ROLL OVER BEETHOVEN / PLEASE MR. POSTMAN (CAPITOL 72133)

This First Pressing was the fifth and final Beatles single to be issued by Capitol of Canada in 1963…before any Capitol record ever came out in the U.S. It is a stunning copy, with amazing sound and an almost-flawless label. It was also the first single to feature George as lead vocal on an A side.

ALL MY LOVING / THIS BOY (CAPITOL 72144)

Released on March 9, 1964, it was the first single in Canada following The Beatles’ appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show, on which “All My Loving” was the very first song performed. And this is one sensational 45, with glorious sound and only the most minor label wear.

TWIST AND SHOUT / THERE’S A PLACE (CAPITOL 72146)

Capitol of Canada released this one week after “All My Loving.” The sound is excellent. Look past the name on the label and enjoy John’s wailing away on “Twist and Shout” (it was the final song in the 12-hour recording session on Feb. 11, 1963, before his throat gave out).

ALSO INCLUDED ARE 7 U.S. CAPITOL COMPANY SLEEVES.

And now, for the SUPER BONUS:

If your winning bid is $99 or more, I’ll also include 2 Beatles Solo 45s (THE WINNING BIDDER AUTOMATICALLY GETS THE BONUS!)

If your winning bid is $129 or more, I’ll also include 3 Beatles Solo 45s!

If your winning bid is $159 or more, I’ll also include 4 Beatles Solo 45s!

THAT’S A POTENTIAL FOR 13 HISTORICAL RECORDS!

DISCLAIMER: Beatles records are fragile and more than a half-century old. Each has been play-tested once on a newer Sony turntable used only for that purpose. They are being described here in complete, honest and accurate detail, and are sold “as is.” I don’t use letter ratings—one person’s VG+ is another person’s G-. I cannot, therefore, be responsible for different results due to the buyer’s own equipment. Your satisfaction, along with my 100% Feedback, are very important.
