Description
MEGA-RARE BEATLES LOT: 7 45s FROM THE CAPITOL OF CANADA 72000 SERIES, INCLUDING RINGO’S “LOVE ME DO,” "FROM ME TO YOU," "PLEASE PLEASE ME" AND MORE!
In 1963, way before American teenagers (like me) even heard of The Beatles, Capitol Records of Canada released five single 45s. Each had a five-digit catalog number beginning with 72.
Because the earliest ones were pressed in limited quantities, and because of their place in music history, these first five records in the 72000 Series—and two that followed in early 1964—are today considered some of the most valuable of all the Beatles discs!
AND YOU CAN HAVE THEM ALL!
YOU GET SEVEN 1963-64 CAPITOL OF CANADA 72000 SERIES BEATLES RELEASES!
AND A FABULOUS BONUS TO THE WINNING BIDDER!
In the order that they came out, here’s what you get (please see Disclaimer):
CAPITOL 72076 LOVE ME DO / P.S. I LOVE YOU
An excellent copy of this first Beatles single release! As you probably know, the A-side includes Ringo on drums. Producer George Martin replaced him with a session drummer on the version recorded a week later and which we still hear to this day. Ringo never forgave him. But his work is preserved on this still-great-sounding disc, which has only a hint of ringwear on the label, but no writing, no tears or labels. The hand-etched matrix number is 7XCE-17144-6 on the A-Side, and 7XCE-17145-7 on the flip side.
CAPITOL 72090 PLEASE PLEASE ME/ ASK ME WHY
Exceptional sound on these two terrific tunes! Both sides have a very small number below the logo, and very minor smudging at the perimeter. I don’t think you can ask for much more after almost sixty years.
CAPITOL 72101 FROM ME TO YOU / THANK YOU GIRL
There may be a little schmutz on the label, but way less than most copies of the era. Put this highly desirable disc on the turntable and label blemish won’t mean a thing; the sound intended by “the boys” comes through loud and clear!
CAPITOL 72125 SHE LOVES YOU / I’LL GET YOU
Initially pressed in September 1963, the record generated little interest. A second pressing was made in December, and this is the one you’ll get—note the -2 on the A-Side matrix number. “She Loves You” went to Number One in Canada and “broke” the group nationally. Other than very minor perimeter wear, this fab disc is free from any distractions—visually or aurally.
CAPITOL 72133 ROLL OVER BEETHOVEN / PLEASE MR. POSTMAN
This First Pressing was the fifth and final Beatles single to be issued by Capitol of Canada in 1963…before any Capitol record came out in the U.S. It is a stunning Near Mint copy without a flaw.
CAPITOL 72144 ALL MY LOVING / THIS BOY
Released on March 9, 1964, it was the first 45 in Canada after The Beatles’ appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show. “All My Loving” was the very first song performed for all of us. And this is a sensational 45, with glorious sound and only the most minor of label wear.
CAPITOL 72146 TWIST AND SHOUT / THERE’S A PLACE
Capitol of Canada put this out one week after “All My Loving.” The sound is excellent, and like all the other 45s in this fabulous package, the label is free from any writing, labels, or tears.
YOU'LL ALSO RECEIVE 7 ORIGINAL CAPITOL OF CANADA COMPANY SLEEVES!

DISCLAIMER: Beatles records are fragile and more than a half-century old. Each has been play-tested once on a newer Sony turntable used only for that purpose. They are being described here in complete, honest and accurate detail, and are sold “as is.” I don’t use letter ratings—one person’s VG+ is another person’s VG-.
