MEGA-RARE BEATLES LOT: 7 45s FROM THE CAPITOL OF CANADA 72000 SERIES, INCLUDING RINGO’S “LOVE ME DO,” "FROM ME TO YOU," "PLEASE PLEASE ME" AND MORE!
In 1963, way before American teenagers (like me) even heard of The Beatles, Capitol Records of Canada released five single 45s. Each had a five-digit catalog number beginning with 72.
Because the earliest ones were pressed in limited quantities, and because of their place in music history, these first five records in the 72000 Series—and two that followed in early 1964—are today considered some of the most valuable of all the Beatles discs!
AND YOU CAN HAVE THEM ALL!
YOU GET SEVEN 1963-64 CAPITOL OF CANADA 72000 SERIES BEATLES RELEASES! AND A FABULOUS BONUS TO THE WINNING BIDDER!
In the order that they came out, here’s what you get:
LOVE ME DO / P.S. I LOVE YOU A terrific copy of this first Beatles single release! As you probably know, the A-side includes Ringo on drums. Producer George Martin replaced him with a session drummer on the version recorded a week later and released to the world. Ringo never forgave him. But his work is preserved on this disc, which has only minor surface noise. There’s just a hint of ringwear on the label, but no writing, no no tears or scuffs. The hand-etched matrix number is 7XCE-17144-6 on the A-Side, and 7XCE-17145-7 on the flip side.
PLEASE PLEASE ME/ ASK ME WHY With purely amazing sound after almost sixty years. The A-Side has a small number sticker and a record store label from Chatham, Ontario, Canada. The B-Side is super clean!
FROM ME TO YOU / THANK YOU GIRL Probably the best record in this set, and a good thing, because it’s highly desirable. In my spot-check, it sounds like it had never been played before! The label shows only the lightest wear.
SHE LOVES YOU / I’LL GET YOU Capitol 72125 was initially pressed in September 1963, but generated little interest. A second pressing was made in December, and this is the one you’re bidding on—note the -2 on the A-Side matrix number. “She Loves You” went to Number One in Canada and “broke” the group nationally. The disc is free from any distractions—visually or aurally.
ROLL OVER BEETHOVEN / PLEASE MR. POSTMAN This First Pressing was the fifth and final Beatles single to be issued by Capitol of Canada in 1963…before any Capitol record came out in the U.S. It is a stunning Near Mint copy without a flaw.
ALL MY LOVING / THIS BOY Released on March 9, 1964, it was the first 45 in Canada after The Beatles’ appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show. It is an absolutely Near Mint disc with sensational sound and a glorious label!
TWIST AND SHOUT / THERE’S A PLACE Capitol of Canada put this out one week after “All My Loving,” and here’s a first pressing. The sound is excellent, and all the A-Side has against it is a small number label and label residue, which can possibly be removed.
YOU'LL ALSO RECEIVE 7 ORIGINAL CAPITOL OF CANADA COMPANY SLEEVES!
And now, for the SUPER BONUS: If your winning bid is $99 or more, I’ll also include 2 Beatles Solo 45s (NOTE—AS THIS IS THE STARTING PRICE, THE WINNING BIDDER IS GUARANTEED TO RECEIVE AT LEAST TWO BONUS RECORDS)! If your winning bid is $149 or more, I’ll also include 4 Beatles Solo 45s! If your winning bid is $199 or more, I’ll also include 6 Beatles Solo 45s! PLEASE NOTE: All net proceeds from this sale will be placed in a Special Needs Trust Fund for my son, who suffers from a Traumatic Brain Injury as a result of being hit by a motor vehicle. Your bid is appreciated. However, it is not a charity and there are no tax benefits.
