1969 PCS 7088 - Apple record labels.

A UK very first issue album in original condition, featuring:

1. a Misaligned APPLE logo mispress on the rear of the sleeve,

2. on side two of the record label the track ‘Her Majesty’ is not printed nor is it printed on the rear of the sleeve, but the track plays on the record !

3. the sleeve has an original shop price sticker on the rear, of  37/6.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in excellent condition, the sleeve is laminated front and rear. This laminate has a wonderful quality ‘mirror’ finish to it, with little in the way of the usual ‘scuffing’. A nice touch to the sleeve is an original shop price sticker of 37/6 on the rear, top right of the sleeve. The four corners of the sleeve have remained crisp and sharp and the two opening edges of the sleeve have remained crisp and sharp. The original period ‘thin’ spine is excellent condition and has remained fresh, white and clean and all the text on the spine is clear to read. As this is a very first issue of this album, from September 1969, it features the Apple logo on the rear of the sleeve misaligned, to the left !. EMI were quick to correct this and very soon the sleeves were changed and the Apple logo was correctly aligned with the song listing. There are NO stains, pen writing, splits, tears, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve. There are some creases, with a little ‘lifting’ to the laminate.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in near excellent condition and is the original period, plain white EMI sleeve, with its correct ‘Patent Nos. 1125555. A good clean white original sleeve for its age. Theres NO pen writing, tears, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve. There is some splitting to one of the side edges.

THE VINYL: side one is in near excellent condition, this side would have been graded higher but there is a ‘scuff’ mark that runs over track one and half way onto track two, possibly ‘needle drag !’, otherwise this side would have been graded as in excellent++ condition. Side two is in MINT condition, I cannot see any marks at all to the playing surface while viewing the record under normal daylight conditions. The vinyl is made from the period thick, heavy vinyl. It has remained very dark and glossy and looks almost like new and appears to have seen very little play.

The matrix are:  YEX 749 - 2  and  YEX  750 - 1,

The mother/stampers are:  ‘ 5  M T G ’  and  ‘ 7   A M L’,

THE AUDIO: side one the audio is near excellent, there are some light ‘ticks’ to be heard throughout track one and it plays with some light ‘dusty’ crackle. Side two is excellent++, one of the best audios I have heard for a long time, it plays with just some light ‘dusty’ crackle heard here and there. The record lays flat on the turntable.

THE LABELS: are in excellent condition. As this is a very first issue, side one shows a DARK green Apple colour. The labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.

THE RECORD / SLEEVES ARE THEN PUT INTO A NEW PLASTIC SLEEVE FOR FURTHER PROTECTION.
