BEATLES UK – Abbey Road, rare ‘Cloud’ sleeve.

PCS 7088 -  Apple record labels.

A rare UK sleeve variant, circa mid 1970s, featuring:

1. the front sleeve photo features ‘clouds’ in the sky !, where as the regular sleeve photo of this album shows a clear blue sky !, see the comparison photo. Could this be the original unedited photo from the the original negative that was taken back in August 1969 ?, was this original photo edited to show a deep blue sky above the famous pedestrian crossing ?,

2. the sleeve has a wider spine that measures 2.5mm,

3. side two, the record has an unusual matrix of ‘2 U’,

4. a very early set of mother / stampers on side one, being ‘ 1 B ’,

5. the record comes with its original ‘Important notice, EMI records Ltd’, inner sleeve. 

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in excellent condition, the sleeve is fully laminated. The two opening edges of the sleeve have remained crisp and sharp. The ‘thicker’ spine measures 2.5mm and is in excellent clean condition, all of the text is readable. Theres NO pen writing, splits, tears, stains, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in very good++ condition and is the original period white ‘Important notice, EMI records Ltd’ sleeve. The two opening edges are in excellent condition, very clean. Theres NO pen writing, tears, stickers or sticker residue. There is some light ageing to one side edge, each side and a split to one of the side edges.

THE RECORD: side one is in excellent++ condition, side two is in near excellent condition. The record has remained very clean, dark and glossy.

The matrix is:  YEX  749 - 4 and YEX  750 – 2U  (unusual),

The mother / stampers are : very early on side one  ‘ 1 B ’ and ‘3 P A’.

THE AUDIO: side one plays very good++, with some light crackle. Side two plays very good+ with some light crackle and some light ‘ticks’ heard hear and there. The record lays flat on the turntable.

THE LABELS: side one is in near MINT condition, side two is in excellent++ condition. The labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.

PACKING  -  ALL RECORDS ARE POSTED WITH MULTI LAYERED CARD STIFFENERS FOR PROTECTION.BEFORE POSTING, THE RECORD IS REMOVED FROM THE RECORDS ORIGINAL INNER AND OUTER SLEEVES, THE RECORD IS THEN PUT INTO A SECOND PAPER INNER SLEEVE TO MINIMISE ANY DAMAGE THAT MAY OCCUR WHILE IN TRANSIT. THE RECORD / SLEEVES ARE THEN PUT INTO A NEW PLASTIC SLEEVE FOR FURTHER PROTECTION.
