The Beatles – Please Please Me –Original 1963 UK Mono issue on the Yellow & Black Parlophone Label, with Parlophone rim labels, without ‘sold in UK’ label text, dating to on or around the initial release date of 22nd March 1963. Catalogue number PMC 1202.
Matrix numbers: XEX 421-1N & XEX 422-1N

Visual:Side 1 VERY GOOD+ Side 2 EXCELLENT-
The vinyl has general superficial marks with the occasional stylus mark visible in strong daylight. There are however no feelable marks or anything that I would describe as a scratch. As the labels bear out, this vinyl has had comparatively little play compared to other records of this vintage. The heavy duty vinyl lies 100% flat on the turntable.
Labels: EXC+to MINT-
A stunning set of the newly designed 1963 yellow and black Parlophone labels which superseded the older black & gold labels. There are only 2 or 3 faint spindle trails to side one. Side four has a few more spindle trails visible. Overall there is virtually no wear to the labels and they remain fresh and clean with no writing or personlisation to either label. The KT tax code is visible on side two. Very tough to get labels as beautiful as this on a 1963 UK issue of Please Please Me.
Audio: EXCELLENT
The audio has all the dynamism and power of a ‘black & gold’ pressing. There is some light surface noise audible in places and I did detect some playwear on some tracks with the occasional light tick but overall there is very little deterioration to the music signals. Do you Want to Know a Secret and A Taste of Honey play superbly. The record does not jump or stick.
Cover
VERY GOOD
An original and rare 1963 EJ Day ‘gold’ cover with the Angus McBean credit in the extreme right corner. The front panel is in very presentable condition and still retains a high gloss laminate sheen. There is wear to the corners. The front panel grades at VG+. The rear panel shows ageing and wear. There is some damage to the flipbacks, grades at VG. There is however no writing or personalisation to any part of the cover and no tape marks or stains. Overall the condition is above average for a ‘gold’ EJ Day cover.
