THE BEATLES
'PLEASE, PLEASE ME'
1963 UK 1st MONO PRESSING LP
*1ST BLACK & GOLD WITH 'DICK JAMES..' CREDITS*
**NEAR MINT SOUND & LABELS**
This superb 1963 first mono pressing is on the UK black & GOLD Parlophone label: PMC 1202
Both labels omit the 'Sold in UK..' text but carry 'Parlophone Co Ltd...' rims
The labels carry the 'Dick James Mus. Co.' publishing credits for side 1 songs: 1,2,6 & 7 and side 2: 4 & 6.
The 'MT' tax/price code is visible in the centre of the side one label.
Housed in an early, correct, front laminated, flipback 'E.J. Day' cover with the 'Angus McBean' credit in the extreme right corner
Complete with original clear windowed 'Use Emitex' inner sleeve.
Matrix numbers: XEX 421-1N & XEX 422-1N
Stamper numbers: 1/T & 1/GD
Labels: NEAR MINT
There is no visible wear or missing paper anywhere. The centre holes are true and have not been inked in.
Very hard to find a better looking set.
Visual: VERY GOOD PLUS
Very heavy thick vinyl with the surfaces still retaining their high gloss finish undulled by 'groove-whitening', 'bag rash' or over-use.
On close inspection in direct light some light marks are visible. These are mostly non-feelable light hairlines from sleeve removal and the occaisional careless 'fingernail' slip. There are certainly no deep marks or scratches.
The disc is unquestionably 100% flat on the turntable without dishing or warping.
Audio: NEAR MINT
As you can see from the quality and condition of the labels, this copy has been rarely played and certainly not abused like most copies.
I have played the entire LP very loudly so I can accurately report the sound quality and have been careful not to overgrade the LP.
So I am happy to report that all the music plays loud and clear with no trace of groovewear/distortion anywhere.
There is silence on the run-ins and between tracks with no hiss, crackle, groovewear distortion, clicks, jumps or repeats.
I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
Cover: EXCELLENT MINUS
This early thick card stock cover is 'correct' for this pressing as it has the 'Angus McBean' credit placed in the extreme lower right corner.
The front panel is bright and clean with an uncratched and undamaged laminate which bears just a few light creases.
The corners and opening edge show minor handling and storagewear but have no major damage.
The rear panel is extremely clean and white, showing no discolouration, marks, writing or missing paper.
The delicate lower flipback shows some repaired damage and is creased but has no missing paper. All others are perfect.
The seams are strong and unsplit and the spine is unworn, clear, clean and readable with no missing paper or laminate.
Strict visual & audible gradings under intense direct light & at volume on high-end audio equipment
