THE BEATLES - 'SGT PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND'
1967 UK 1st *STEREO* PRESSING LP
**SUPERB EARLY EXAMPLE**
This copy, with its '1/G' side 1 mother/stamper, was amongst the first few hundred copies ever pressed.
This outstanding 1967 UK 1st STEREO pressing is on the UK black & yellow Parlophone label: PCS 7027
Both labels carry the 'Sold in UK..' text & 'Gramophone Co Ltd...' rims.
The 'KT' tax/price code is visible on the side 1 label.
Housed in a fully laminated 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed stereo gatefold cover with internal flipbacks & standard 5mm spine.
Complete with original red & white designer inner-sleeve and cut-out sheet.
Matrix numbers: YEX 637-1 & YEX 638-1
Stamper numbers: 1/G & 1/A
Visual: EXCELLENT
Both sides are extremely clean & glossy and retain their original 'ranbow' shine.
The only blemishes visible in daylight are two 1.5cm, non-feelable light scratches on side 2 and a single one in the run-out on side 1.
Close inspection directly under a halogen desk lamp reveals nothing further apart from a few wispy inner-sleeve removal paper hairlines.
100% flat both sides on the turntable with no dishing or warping.
Audio: EXCELLENT
This copy has received just a few very careful plays on top quality equipment and plays without background crackle or groovewear distortion on any track.
Even the easily damaged 'She's Leaving Home' plays perfectly without any interference, distortion or crackle.
The only audible faults are: 2 light clicks at the end of 'She's Leaving Home and anothe light click for 10 revolutions during part of the final fade on 'Day In The Life'.
Otherwise the disc plays without any further audible faults or wear.
Cover: EXCELLENT MINUS
The high-gloss laminate is glossy & unscratched all-round and displays just a few small 'thumbnail' creases and light spine wrinkles.
Apart from a small bump to the upper left, all corners are in great shape.and the opening edges are very clean & sharp with no tears or feathering.
There is a tiny 1cm stress to the upper seam but the inside is 'as new' with no missing paper to either flipback.
The spine has some missing laminate but is clean with all the wording present.
Inner: EXCELLENT
No splits or tears.
Cut-out sheet: EXCELLENT PLUS
