Description

FAIRPORT CONVENTION - 'FAIRPORT CONVENTION'

This was their debut album recorded in November 1967 and released in the UK in June 1968. It  was the only one of their studio albums to feature Judy Dyble who was replaced in 1968 by Sandy Denny. However, during her short time with the band she managed to make a noticeable impression, particularly through her on-stage habit of knitting dishcloths and scarves when not actually singing.

This outstanding example is a UK 1st MONO pressing dating from initial release and is on the red Polydor label: 582035

Matrix numbers: 582035 A 1 420 & 582035 B//2 420

Vinyl weight: 127g

The disc is housed within a fully laminated 'Ernest J. Day' printed mono cover.

Complete with an original poly-lined inner-sleeve.

Labels: NEAR MINT

A perfectly clean & unworn set with just a handful of light spindle trails around the side 1 centre hole and about double that amount around 2.

Visual: NEAR MINT

Pristine, deep-gloss & totally unmarked playing surface which are MINT in strong daylight & bear nothing more than a few barely visible wispy paper hairlines and a sparkling rainbow shine directly beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp. Both sides of this immaculate copy lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing.

Play: NEAR MINT

This flawless sounding copy has received just a few careful plays on high-end equipment. My single careful play-check at volume could find no traces of any audible wear or any kind, just wonderful warm, clear and unworn mono sound.

Cover: EXCELLENT

A clean & strong example with light storagewear but no major faults. There are two light wrinkles to the front panel laminate and some light storage rubbing to both panels but no other significant signs of wear. The corners are all un-bumped and fully intact with just slight rubbing to the upper left rear. Both openign edges are unworn and both seams and the fully worded spine are all smooth, unstressed & unsplit.

. Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT

Flat & fully intact with just slight age-toning to the paper around the edges but no writing, seam splits or tears.
