IAN CARR : ' Music Outside ' (Latimer New Dimensions pubs., 1973) original & pretty damn scarce book on "Contemporary Jazz in Britain" (contemporary to late 60s/early 70s that is!) by the head honcho of cult band NUCLEUS. The book is a 1st Edition hardback, medium-large format in dustjacket, 179 pages inc. 'Scene' discography/appendix, plus several pages of glossy pics. - As well as intro & chapters on general "Perspectives" and "Notes on some Virtuosi". Practically everyone who was influential in the Contemporary Jazz scene with slight excursions into BLUESY/PROG rock between the mid-50s and 1973 gets a mention....
All in all a very hard-to-find document of the time and a fascinating read for any jazz buffs, and a great find for Ian Carr / Nucleus fans in particular !
Cond: G+>VG (the book is a withdrawn ex-library stock one, so d/j has been protected by a poly wrapper for 30+ years. This is certainly a lot less "well-thumbed" than average similar books - obviously was only an ultra cult minority topic in North East Fife DL for the duration! -only has a couple of library stamps inside, with some slight wear & tear on front end-papers plus old library 'sale' price. Main text & pics. are v. clean, just some ageing to top & side edges). Cover Pic. to follow ASAP....
