Great condition 1957 UK 1st press copy of this highly collectable jazz rarity with the little played vinyl and wonderfully impressive audio quality being true highlights
Year/Label : 1957 UK ESQUIRE Label number : 32-079 Matrix numbers : PRLP - 7105 - A / PRLP - 7107 - B with "RVG" stamped into each run-off along with "AB ET" tax codes Stampers : 1 B, 2 BTruly excellent plus (EX+) condition jet black sheen vinyl, virtually unmarked...with very close inspection under a bright light it is just possible to detect x2 extremely faint and purely superficial 2-3cm scuff lines - nothing really - and that's it! No obvious scuff marks, no hairlines, no warping, and completely flat - wonderful! Pristine labels - I can just about make out a couple of small and extremely faint spindle trails on the side 2 label but apart from that the labels remain unmarked. Clearly this is a record that has been very sparingly played. Fully laminated West Brothers excellent (EX) condition flipback outer sleeve with firm and unscuffed edges; the 1st press "nipped" end spine is also firm with all spine text remaining fully intact - just some minor buckling on the spine itself - see photos. Each corner remains a near perfectly defined right angle with absolutely minimal rubbing, and the opening edges remain straight and taut with no fraying or foxing. The only blemishes are some very minor laminate lifting adjacent to the top of the spine on the reverse side and at the bottom left corner on the front side, just a couple of non-obvious and small surface laminate creases, the hint of a 2cm crease at the top right corner on the front side, and some mild age discolouration next to the edges on the reverse side. Apart from these very trivial aberrations the condition of the sleeve is hard to fault with all art work, colouring and text remaining beautifully intact. Exquisite! Near mint (NM) audio quality with no skips, jumps, repeats, sticks, clicks, interference or distortion and not even a hint of any background crackle - extraordinary for vinyl of this age. Great tone with crystal clear instrumentation and every track a great listen with John Coltrane (tenor sax), Johnny Splawn (trumpet), Sahib Shihab (baritone sax), Red Garland and Mal Waldron (piano), Paul Chambers (bass), and Al Heath (drums) at the top of their game. Comes with original and great condition "MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN" with "British patent..." and "This long playing record..." texts inner sleeve with no edge splits, no tears or rips or edge fraying, barely any age discolouration, and just a little mild corner creasing. There cannot be many copies of this very rare UK 1st press jazz gem in better condition than this.

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
