An original very 1st press of HOTH on UK Atlantic. Matrix A2/B2 - very 1st cut. Well worth seeking out the early copies as this title was released only a matter of months before the Oil Crisis royally screwed up the vinyl market. The early copies are pressed on solid heavy-duty vinyl. Note how there's no perimeter text in the upper half of the labels and no sign of the Warners logo - indicative of 1st issue. Stamped 'RL STERLING'. The vinyl comes housed in an original matt 1st issue cover. We also have the original high quality textured inner sleeve 'printed in England'. So, we're 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) In superb condition and has clearly only seen light careful use. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of very lightest marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. Tilt the record into the light and you can see the shine from some lowly used grooves - nice! A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. A beautifully preserved original copy - and you'll really be needing that on HOTH. Why? Those familiar with this title will no doubt be aware there are at least TWO ultra-fussy tracks on this LP. MOST copies do not play No QTR & Rain Song clean. Very few copies can deliver a nice clean rendition into the quietest moments. But I'm pleased to report this copy has been sufficiently lightly used enough to preserve those delicate grooves. And listening to these tracks is a bit of a revelation - this might well be one of the best copies I've given a spin. A really clean player throughout - a level that would be difficult to equal. Very little to take issue with at all. Maybe a few very slight crackles in one isolated spot per side. That is an extremely good strike rate. The audio quality is to die for. These copies, when clean, can deliver that ultimate rendition that any self-respecting Zep nut needs to hunt down.
Cover (Ex) Due to the lack of lamination this title often exhibits a bit of surface wear. I'm pleased to report that this example has managed to avoid said surface wear. It's not perfect - there's one slight crease top left on the rear. But, in reality, it's not far off! The interior is immaculate - no issues. Edge wear is very slight for this title and the openings are still sharp. The spine is 100% intact - with just the lightest sign of light fade. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Ex-) Difficult to find clean and unsplit. No splits! Very slightest ageing just noticeable at extremities.
