Description
Zeppelin IV LP a 1st issue from winter 1971 on the UK Atlantic label. Matrix A3/B4. Etchings 'Porky/Pecko'. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original gatefold cover. On the rear is an Atlantic/Kinney sticker indicating that Kinney had just purchased Atlantic and was in the process of issuing new catalogue numbers. Also included is the original textured lyric inner sleeve with the fold overs exposed on the outside. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In superb shape and clearly has only seen the lightest of use. Under close inspection we could make out a couple of light marks either side - they are superficial and are in no way troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity. Take a look at those label shots - there's still waste vinyl in the spindle hole. This is a low-mileage copy. Interference is minimal - we only detected a touch of light static in a couple of sections. Even the acoustic numbers are preserved well and play clean - which is the real test for this LP. Sound quality is breathtaking - once again these red & plum copies prove what an outstanding investment they are from an audio perspective.
Cover (Vg+) In really nice condition and has clearly been looked after down the years. The main noticeable issue is that it has been autographed on the front [twice] - perhaps someone was practising their rune symbols! But setting this aside - this is an unusually well preserved copy. Zep IV is often a bit beaten up - but this copy looks and feels really nice. All surfaces are nice and clean without the usual surface wear or creasing. The interior still has a nice black finish which hasn't faded at all. There is some left-over tape reside along the top-right edge. All seams are 100% secure. Wear on the spine is very light and overall the cover seems to have retained all of its original rigidity. Even the edges are only exhibiting light wear which tends to suggest low use also. A very nice specimen indeed.
Inner (Vg) In nice condition, but it does have seam splits which have been taped up. No nasty marks or tears otherwise.
