Description

An original 1972 copy on Atlantic Orange & Green label. Matrix A2/B2. Etching 'Allen'. Want a great playing early Zep4 - but not keen on the prices? - then read on. This early copy comes from 1972 - just 1 year from those original masters. Think about it - that's not all that long in the grand scheme of time! Great audio & Great price. In '72 they were still pressing reasonably solid. The 1972 copies are relatively easy to spot. There's no perimeter text in the upper half of the labels - and the Warners logo is absent. The 'Mountain Top' error is still exhibiting too. I'm not mentioning this to claim some sort of rarity, but just to help ascertain the date of manufacture. In 1972 the 'Mountain Top' typos are probably more common than the correct 'Hop' copies! The vinyl comes housed in an original cover with an abnormally wide spine. We also have the original lyric inner sleeve. So, we're 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex) In lovely condition and has only seen very light use [mirror surfaces]. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of very light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are really nice and quiet and the audio comes across with superb clarity. The audio rolling of this copy is blindingly good - throughout. It really can reveal the full glory of Zep IV. This copy plays it clean into all those tricky acoustic moments. 'Evermore' plays fully clean - an absolute joy. Stairway - plays back real nice with just an occasional crackle in the odd isolated moment. This is way way better than what you typically find. California plays great too with just an occasional odd crackle. Overall a beautifully preserved copy at a reasonable price. You could quite easily be looking at Two or Three times the price for this sort of clarity on a red & plum...from just 12 months earlier!
Cover (Ex/Ex+) A truly supremely well preserved cover. Back and front are pristine - there's no creasing or surface wear at all. The interior is pretty much immaculate - no issues at all. The spine is super nice. It's a very nice wide square spine with hardly a single patch of wear, or fading. Edge wear is very minor and the openings are still sharpish. The cover still retains excellent rigidity. A beaut!
Inner (Vg+) A few blemishes but nothing unsightly. A two inch side split has been taped up internally.
