Review:

It probably isn't surprising to learn that Hoyle's solo debut, cut following the final dissolution of Affinity in 1971,
does not deviate too far from that band's jazz-rock modus operandi. However, in seeking to trim the instrumental
fat from Affinity's sometimes gruelling work-outs, and concentrate the attention on the songs (and lyrics) themselves,
it rises far above its role model, to showcase Hoyle as a far more exciting figure than her footnotes in history would have you believe.

Reminiscent in places of the best of Julie Driscoll's late 1960s work - a role model that Hoyle was singularly well-placed to succeed -
Pieces Of Me likewise borrows from several of Driscoll's own influences. The Nina Simone and Laura Nyro songbooks both contribute
to the proceedings, with the latter's "Lonely Woman" standing among the best tracks on the entire album.
But Hoyle's own work, largely written in tandem with keyboard player Karl Jenkins, is equally powerful, with the eerie
"Hymn To Valerie Solanis" (titled for, but never mentioning the woman who shot Andy Warhol), and the regretful
"Journey's End" ranking among the other highlights. The intriguing "Ballad Of Marty Mole", meanwhile, reads like a cross
between Bob Dylan and Beatrix Potter, and could well give children nightmares for days. ~

Packing description:

I use heavy duty 3/16" foam core as a backing board. VERY STURDY!!!

I also pack each part of the LP separately in a brand new poly bag - disc, jacket and any inserts each have their own bag.

These are then taped to the foam core.

This is bubble-wrapped and packaged in a standard LP mailer.

Upcoming:

Check out my other auction items for incredibly rare vinyl LP’s from the cream period of
rock/folk/progressive/avant and jazz.

I'm filtering through my collection of 3000+ LP’s to offer the finest of the crop!

For those hundreds of interested parties who've e-mailed me over the last several years ...
here's your chance to grab some gems that are rarely offered!!!

On Jan-10-08 at 12:14:52 PST, seller added the following information:

I've revamped my packaging approach.

I'm no longer using the standard record mailer.

I still pack each element of the album in separate BRAND NEW poly bags.

This is then bubble wrapped and taped to an oversized (15” x 15”) piece of

3/16” foam-core board.

Then, I cap this affair with another oversized (15” x 15”) piece of

3/16” foam-core board.

Each side is thoroughly taped to create a splash-proof assembly.

I spend extra on the foam-core board because cardboard is NO where as stiff!!!

I do not charge extra for materials.

With the foam-core stiffness and over-sized dimensions, this will completely avoid any corner damage.

It looks cool, too! Pictures available upon request.

On Jan-10-08 at 12:31:35 PST, seller added the following information:

I've been asked kindly by many members to end this auction early and accept a generous offers for this LP.

I hate saying NO to anyone, but this wouldn't be fair to those who are actively involved in the auction.

I knew this LP was rare, but the response has been CRAZY!!

I'm sure I'll regret turning down a few of the offers (OY!), but I guarantee, this auction will continue for the original 7 day listing.

And "they" thought I was nutz for buying multiple copies of all my LP's.

On Jan-10-08 at 14:48:02 PST, seller added the following information:

I've been asked by a few members about the etching information on the run-out groove area of the disc.

Here's the best I can do without a magnifier:

SIDE A ( Swirl side):

6360060  1Y//1 (inverted triangle shape) 420 1   1   1

SIDE B (Track Listing Side):

6360060  2Y//1 (inverted triangle shape) 420  12   1

I hope this helps !!!

On Jan-14-08 at 10:15:51 PST, seller added the following information:

I've had a few ask about the cover condition on this piece.

As I mentioned, there are some areas where there is a sort of "residue".

I will add some DETAILED pictures tonight.

On Jan-14-08 at 16:00:07 PST, seller added the following information:

Here are some clearer pictures of the "residue" mentioned in the original listing.
If this is an issue for current bidders, let me know.
Otherwise, this item is fully described - serious bidders only!

On Jan-14-08 at 20:37:03 PST, seller added the following information:

Regarding shipping:

I will pay for shipping beyond the $5.00 domestic or $15.00 international I normally require.

I recommend  FEDEX ground with insurance for domestic and FEDEX international with insurance for non-domestic for an item of this caliber.

This will provide secure delivery with tracking!
