Posting to Russia: Yes, I do post to Russia. But delivery can take up to 4 to 6 weeks from the UK. So please be patient. I will submit a tracking number to the winning bidder, and when the packet arrives there it can be followed online using the Russian post website.

Label Conditions: All four immaculate, very clean, fresh and attractive, I am struggling to find a single spindle mark on any of them. For a very popular album, finding one appearing barely played and offering pristine sound to all four sides is very rare and unusual.

Warps: Side four has very gentle, slight movement that should cause no issues at all to any deck worthy of a name. Tracking should prove effortless as it did on my LP12.

Brief Info: The second Oasis album that sold in considerable numbers even though some critics of the time gave it a mediocre review. That hardly unusual for an album that has gone on to become a ‘classic’. Many consider it the greatest album of the 1990s and it remains as popular today as it was on issue. Most were sold on the digital formats and only the audiophiles bought the far more limited vinyl copies. This a UK first pressing and in stunning all-round condition. Pressing quality is outstandingly fine – all four sides play with immaculate sound. Also after hearing this on vinyl, it is immediately apparent how superior it sounds on this format. Still quite full-on, but smoother on the ear with superb dynamic range and detail. It blows away the original CD versions that to my ear were far too harsh with a compressed sound. For those wanting the warmth and dynamics of vinyl, look no further than this barely played copy that totally blew me away.

Cover Grade and Format: NEAR MINT: an unlaminated double fold, triple gatefold cover with matt, smooth surfaces. One record is stored inside the opening, the other on the right edge. Printed and made in England (the tiny credit on the back cover top right inside a white box in tiny type). Includes the original open hole black inner sleeves which is correct for this MPO pressing.

Cover Front: Immaculate, and cover-protected from new, I can find nothing of note to fault, it simply reminds of new. The ‘pointy’ top right corner tip is correct and made like that.

Cover Back: Almost the same, a tiny crease on the bottom right corner being critical.

Cover Other Four Surfaces: All superb with barely anything to fault.

Top Edges: All straight, flush and unworn.

Bottom Edges: All pretty much the same, a trace of thickening on the single thickness middle edge towards the right, this being very critical.

Right Edge(s), and Type: Any thickening to the front entrance edge minimal and light. The back folded edge is very clean, crisp with no compression. No trimming or enhancement to any area of this famous cover.

Spine and Text: Very thick indeed and immaculate as-seen. Solid, straight with no compression or crushing. Folded square, so the edges meet up very closely together and parallel. All text is perfect and unworn.

Corners: All corners are very impressive and have avoided any major impacts. For quite a boxy cover, these have fared superbly well and most retain better than excellent shape.

Cover Summary: You want the classic covers in superb condition – look no further – it’s here. A beautiful fresh and strong all-round example of this elusive 1990’s original cover, one that will prove very difficult to find better. This cover-protected gem should please most collectors.

The Inner Sleeves: Both PRACTICALLY MINT: two card unlined open window inners that look as-made with no edge splits or repairs. Barely creased with hardly even a trace of handling to the revealing black surfaces. They hardly get much cleaner, fresher or better than this.

Vinyl Condition/Visual Grading: EXCELLENT(++): arguably better, these look barely played. A very fine visual pair that are very clean with equally fine shine and solidly pressed. Any surface traces few, very light and faint as seen critically under bright light, mostly wispy hairline traces from the hard inners, but hardly any of put in context. A light mark near the rim of side two has NO sound whatsoever, I would be certain present from new. No penetrating stylus scratches, viewed in average room light, barely anything even registers. Visually super records that should please many, if not most collectors.

Album Played For Grading: Yes. [I play ALL records I offer before submitting to Ebay, also the record is played in its entirety unless clearly stated otherwise. I do NOT play snippets or joining grooves to check for sound quality and quietness – I play from the beginning to end via clinically revealing equipment, all listed further down.]

Sound Quality and Audio Grading: This more modern classic album plays even above it’s high visual grading with nothing unwanted heard at all. Offering strong, distortion-free sound, all frequencies are sharp and clear – sound quality is very high with a wide dynamic range and very detailed sound. Both records exceptionally well-pressed and offering the best possible sound quality available, with no tracking issues*. These for me blow-away the CD version, less harsh to the senses, but still dynamic and full-on, the audio quality smoother and far more enjoyable. Few available copies will match or outperform this UK first pressing I feel sure. Both channels are clean and sharp, I am certain these records have hardly been played or even been removed from the cover. Certainly very well stored, cover-protected and carefully handled, almost certainly in a non-smoking environment. Nothing spoilt my pleasure when play-grading this wonderful set. It will prove very difficult to find significantly better and can be strongly recommended.

* As played-graded on a high-end Linn LP12 Sondek turntable with Ittok Mk II arm and Ortofon Quintet Black moving coil cartridge tracking at 2.2 grams. Records are a ‘contact’ format, and few will avoid the odd minor sound blemish.

SOME GENERAL GUIDES TO WEAR AND CONDITIONS TO HELP YOU DECIDE

My Use of Description Terminology: Surface Marks = Superficial, usually light marks, hairlines or light scuffs that rarely sound. Scratch = a needle mark that goes below the record’s surface, some will sound, some will not, my play-grade will inform. Original = a record that has been pressed with the first label design which does NOT necessarily mean a very first pressed record. First Pressing = A record that I believe or know to be a genuine very first pressed record. I do not claim to always know for sure, and that’s why I state the stamper and matrix numbers if at all possible, for those who claim to know what they all mean, the information is there for the collector to decide. I prefer to use terms like ‘Early Copy’ rather than ‘First Pressing’ if I am not totally sure. Surface Sound = Mild, light sound, usually light crackle or similar. Distortion = Break up of the actual sound caused by groove wear or damage from a chipped stylus – the most undesirable form of unwanted sound, vintage mono records were the most prone to this happening but not exclusively so. The symptoms of distortion are high frequency clipping, moderate constant crackle or an echo type sound quality. Violin, piano and vocals are most prone to groove-wear distortion. Feathering = Fraying or softening of the entry edge of a cover. Covers with feathered entrance edges are more likely to have had the actual record inserted and removed more than a non-feathered, sharp-edged cover which are always far more attractive. Set Off, actually a printer’s term for dark ink leaving mild residue on pale or white ink when rested upon. e.g. when a gatefold cover has black ink closed against white, this can leave some black residue on the pale area – this is mostly unavoidable or course.

The Argument for Vinyl Original sound and mix (mono mixes are rarely available on CD), high quality sound on clean copies (played on a hi-end dedicated analogue system – breathtaking sound!), beautiful, large format covers, artwork, inserts and even full size posters etc; huge investment potential, and the pleasure of owning ‘the real thing’.
