ROBERT RENTAL
A self-confessed fan of Cage, Stockhausen, Can, Faust, Captain Beefheart and Peter Hammill, Robert Rental began his music career in 1977, collaborating with his friend Thomas Leer. Rental taped two compositions on a 4-track recorder and released 650 copies on his Regular records. Not as stunning as Leer's majestic debut, Robert Rental's 7" was neverthless an interesting platter, which garnered positive reviews and instantly sold out its initial pressing. The single included two cuts sung and played (monophonic synthesizer, drum machine and guitar) by rental himself...(from Mario Panciera "(1976/1979) 45 Revolutions" book)
