Sun Ra And His Solar Infinity Arkestra      Visits Planet Earth     mono    El Saturn 9956-11-A  Red  Chicago 60607 label silk screen front cover ?

PO 7124 Chicago  address on back. 9956-11--A/B  and in the runouts.

El Saturn was not a label known for high quality pressing or vinyl.  Almost all records on the label play with some surface noise even when new and frequently do not play up to visual grade.  I have pointed out any that were particularly poor pressings.  In addition, many records on the label are of sub par recording quality.

The record looks strong VG++ and plays very nicely at  VG++.  No scuffs or scratches.  A good pressing, one of the better El Saturns and plays with very light noise.  Side 1 has an area of maybe 12 tiny pressing dimples that are visible in certain light.  There's also a circular, thumb print sized discoloration in the vinyl. None of these affect play. Side 2 has a few pressing dimples also that do not affect play.  A few possible spindle marks both sides.  Grooves are bright and glossy and look unplayed or nearly so.

Audio clips are below. One minute of beginning of each side and one minute random selection from each side included below.

 The cover is VG+.

I believe the front cover is silk screened.  It's not a paste on and the art seems to be painted directly onto the cover.  The front is is bright and shiny with light wear and a small circular area of slick missing at the top. Crinkling of the top seam can also be seen.  The back cover has moderate wear and crinkling of the top seam can be seen.  The top seam is split 1/2 inch and not taped at the pocket.  Seam also has spots of heavy wear and fraying.  At spine is app 1/2 inch of heavy wear and seam may be split but it is tight.  Bottom seam has app 1/4 inch or heavy wear at the pocket.  Spots of wear at the corners. Spine is intact and readable.

Black lines that might be visible at bottom left and top right in pictures are due to photo cropping and not on record.

I WILL NOT END AUCTIONS EARLY.  PLEASE DO NOT ASK.

My highest grade is M- and I rarely grade 50s or 60s records M-. Records are graded visually using the Goldmine system. M-, VG++, VG+, VG, VG- etc. I play grade any potential problem areas.  I attempt to grade conservatively, listing all significant flaws. You will be satisfied.  No hassles.
