Description

An original 1st mono press of 'A Collection' on the UK Parlophone label from Xmas 1966. Matrix 1G/1G - 1st cut. Please note labels are consistent with very 1st press - the publishing credits are all found on the left hand side. It is well worth insisting on an early mono copy. I don't find that ALL 60's copies were made at the same standard. The early copies are heavy and, in mono particularly, sound FAB. The vinyl comes housed in an original Mono flipback cover. Also included is an original generic white inner sleeve with 'patents applied for'. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Vg+) In lovely condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection I could only make out a  couple of light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of deviations. A lovely player - if you need to hear these BEATLE classics in unadulterated mono...this example is more than capable of delivering a fine rendition. Intros and inbetweens are very nice and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. By and large we are talking about a clean player. As many of you will be aware the trickiest tracks to find playing clean on this title are Michelle, Help, and Rigby. They play well, but do expect a bit of static in places. It is exceptionally difficult to find these tracks playing very clean [do bear that in mind]. Other than that expect nothing more than a few crackles in a couple of isolated moments per side. Overall a beautiful rendition that will show you first hand how good these Beatles classic tracks can sound - straight outta '66!
Cover (Ex) A very well preserved cover - much better than what usually surfaces. Beautifully clean and unaged front cover with just a couple of thumbnail creases. It lies perfectly flat and has a very nice glossy mirror like effect to it. The corners are all still pointed [no dings]! The rear has almost totally avoided the ageing process - which is pretty unusual [just a couple of very superficial blemishes at the foot]. All flipbacks are secure and fully intact. Edge wear is pretty much unobservable and the openings still sharpish. The spine is 100% intact [perfect]. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. You won't be finding a better example anytime soon!
Inner (Vg+) Light ageing. Only one 1 inch side split [has been taped up].
